Talk to your Yamaha QL or CL5

Search for QL or CL remote control and you’ll find Yamaha’s own editors and little else. TalkBoard is different: a desktop app for macOS and Windows that controls the QL1, QL5 and CL5 in plain English — spoken with push-to-talk, or typed. Say “more vocal in mix 4” and it happens on the desk.

Exactly which Yamaha consoles are supported

Yamaha’s range is wide, so here it is precisely: TalkBoard supports the QL1, QL5 and CL5. The CL1 and CL3, and the TF and DM series, are not supported.

QL1

The compact QL — monitors, corporate, houses of worship.

QL5

The full-size QL at front of house.

CL5

The flagship CL — 72 input channels, run in plain English.

What you can say to a QL or CL

Every one of these is a real command on the QL and CL5 — hold the spacebar and say it, or type it. See the full command library.

Why this page exists

Search for QL remote control and you’ll find Yamaha’s own editor and not much else. TalkBoard is third-party voice and plain-English text control for the QL family and the CL5: no plugin into QL Editor, no template files — it talks to the console directly over the network.

Scene recall from a hotkey

Save a scene-recall macro and bind it to a key — the keyboard shortcut the QL and CL never had. How macros work →

Show Mode

Every AI change can wait for your confirmation before it touches the desk — flip it on when the room is live.

How it works

Plain English → TalkBoard’s cloud AI → real console commands over your network. Internet required for the AI; saved macros run locally.

The honest fine print: Desktop app for macOS and Windows — no phone or iPad version. QL1, QL5 and CL5 only — the CL1/CL3, TF and DM series are not supported. Undo of the last AI change is an X32/M32-family feature and is not available on the QL or CL. Virtual-console prep works with X32-Edit/M32-Edit only — there is no QL/CL editor equivalent. AI output can be wrong — review what it sends on a live system, or use Show Mode.
